Olympic work TWA

Through these weeks we've been doing Olympic work. We've been doing Olympic work through reading and maths. In reading there was a task board that we did work from. There were 3 questions to choose from and I chose 'How are the Ancient, Modern and Present Olympics different?' I went on Kiwi Kids News to get some information. In the research I learned that married woman would get thrown of cliff for even watching in the Ancient times! In maths we did an Olympic slideshow witch had questions to solve. We would solve one question each day as a group and then do it separately. We had to solve it in our own way so we wouldn't get confused. Over all I thought both the activities were great.

Olympic work

In term three we started doing Olympic disruption work. It was set with dates on the side that we had to find the answer to. I searched that one of the disruptions was terrorists. The work took me two days to finish and one of the questions really hard for me to finish. The last question about the Olympics was easy because it was about the 2020 Olympics. In the next week after we started some new Olympic work. We went on an Olympic logo slide that showed all the sports. We had to write the sports under the logos and it was easier said then done. After I was done I had to choose a sport and I chose karate. Things I learned:I learned there's more than 20 sports in the Olympics.

Blog about Matariki

Earlier this week we started Matariki DLO's and we could do it on a Google drawings,Google slides and more. We needed to find facts about Matariki by looking at texts. Here is how we did it in order of how we did it.

 1. We chose a question on the site to base our facts on.
2. After we chose a google sheet to start our work on.
3. Then we went on the reading page and read texts to find facts.
4. We then wrote the page and once you put enough information you put Matariki pictures.
5. Add colours to convince people to read it and get it checked

Here is the link to my DLO.

Procedural text

 Procedural Text

For writing we did procedural writing, this is a text that explains how to do something. We needed to explain a game we knew and I did Minecraft. It started of with a plan then when we finished we put the text on a doc. We got checked and then edited it to get rid of any mistakes.

We learned how to make a proper Procedural Text. I learned another way to explain things to people. It taught me to explain in more  detail. We learned that if you don't explain it detail with it won't go to plan.

To me I think I did good at detailing the text. I think that I wrote my text properly. I'm sure I explained everything about Minecraft. Here is the link to my Procedural writing text.

Pink T-Shirt Day

On Friday last week it was Pink T-Shirt day and we all wore pink. I wore a Pink jacket and when I got to school almost everyone was wearing Pink. First we all had a Singing assembly and Ms McGrath helped us practice the lines. Once we finished the assembly we went out to get a picture. Miss Daly got the drones out and turned them on. We all formed a giant t-shirt in the meantime. Ms Daly used the camera on the drone so she would get a better picture. Some of the people got surprised when they heard the drone start flying. Once she got the photo she sent it to the other teachers. Then we went back to class and and wrote compliments to strangers. It worked by first writing nice comments in our book. After we wrote it on a paper T-shirt and coloured it in. Then we made another T-shirt after at the end of the day the teachers gave them out.

Cameron Pools

In week 1 term 2 we started going to Cameron Pools because we live on a island and are surrounded by water. In my first session I was in the Nan's pool and it was shallow. The pool was heated and I thought it was too easy. On Thursday I got moved to the adult pool because the instructor said so. At first I was scared about the depth but after the instructor helped me. I learned to put my face in the water without blowing bubbles. After the instructor pulled out a pole for me to hold onto and do my front kicking. In the next week I learned to stand in the pool without drowning. Then we got black boards to start the front kicking it was easy! After we learned to do the thing that scared me the most? We did back kicking without a board so the instructor held me and when she let go I did it! In conclusion I now love Cameron pools.

Jerome fortune teller

This morning the deputy principal taught us to make fortune tellers. Fortune tellers are a type of paper origami that  tells your fortune. Then Miss McGrath started explaining where to fold and how to fold it. We did a lot of folding and creasing that my fingers hurt. Finally when we finished the folds Debs helped with the shape. After  Miss McGrath explained what the numbers and colours mean. For my colours I chose green, blue, black and brown Debs helped with the colouring. I started doing dots but Debs told me the right way to colour. Then we wrote the numbers one to eight and it looked like it when't around and around. After we wrote compliments inside the folds like the ones in our fitness diaries. They are Warriors fitness diaries that we've been filling since week 3. I struggled a bit with the writing enough that I got frustrated so I made it a anger fortune teller. Finally I finished it I was so proud when I tried it it was fun.
