Jerome lockdown highlights

In term three our teachers introduced us to the lockdown highlights slideshow. The slideshow was purple with yellow lightning. In the slideshow we were supposed to put all the work we were proud of. First we made a copy and filed it then wrote the title. Then we found work we were proud of in our google drive and pasted it on the slideshow. On my slideshow I put my maths and my favorite blog post. My maths was based on flat polygons that I learned facts about. The blog was based on my sister's birthday and you can look at it on my blog. Now here is the link to my lockdown highlights. Blog you later.

My sisters birthday

In lockdown it was my sisters birthday and she was excited. We were planning to go to christchurch but then lockdown came. So we had to cancel our tickets to christchurch and we didn't know what to do. On the day of her birthday we thought of something fast. We thought of the beach so we got in the car and drove. First we stopped a the bakery to get my sisters cake so my mum went outside and collected it. The cake was flavored chocolate all over even the whipped cream was chocolate. Then we went to Mcdonald's to get some food to eat at the beach. Once we got to the beach we ate first then when we finished eating we got dressed in our togs. I asked my dad to take me and my sister to the water. When I got there it was surprisingly shallow but I spoke to soon once I stepped forward the wave hit me. I could taste the yucky salty water so I ran back to our spot an we wished my sister and ate the cake. My sister thought it was a great fun birthday.

Jerome's Work

This week we've been having some changes to our work. The first change was our task board but my favorite change was code avengers. Code avengers is also my reading and writing. Since its my reading and writing that means I do 2 activities a day. Once you log in to code avengers there are numbered lessons that you do. Overall code avengers is my favorite piece of work to do.

Jerome's arts and crafts

Over lockdown I've been making fun crafts. My work has mostly been three main kinds, here they are:

1. My Transformers cutouts - for these I cut big rectangles. Then I find pictures on google and replicate them on.

Megatron robot mode

Megatron beast mode

2. My Ben 10 cutouts - for these I cut all kind of shapes. Then I either memorize or find pictures to draw.
Energy armor

Energy flame

3. My pokemon cutouts - for these I cut and fold rectangles. Then I draw the pokemon stages from my book onto the paper. Here are the pictures of the pokemon cut outs. For example, below are the evolutionary stages of Aron.
1.Aron2.Lairon
3.Aggron

Jerome's disgusting sandwich

Through the week we've been doing some writing work. The type of writing we've been doing is procedural writing. Our task was to make a disgusting sandwich. Then write the ingredients down and wrote instructions on a step by step manner. In my sandwich there were nine steps.  I loved the activity because we could choose how disgusting. Here is the link to my sandwich work. Blog you later on my next activity.

Jerome's DLO

Over the past four days, we've been completing a DLO. A DLO is a Digital Learning Object. Since its lockdown now, instead of teachers parents check it. First we find an athlete to write about. Then make a page that's big enough for 4 days work. I started off on a google drawing and then on slides. It was all based on the Paralympics. The athlete I chose was a shooter called Michael Johnson. It was hard but I was able to finish it. Overall I thought the activity was the right amount of challenging. The link to my DLO is down there if you want to see it.

Jerome's yummy chocolate banana cake

During the weekend, my sister and I were wondering what we could do.  My mother said that we could bake her famous banana choc cake as we had some ripe bananas lying around. First we measured the flour and cocoa powders. Second we mashed the bananas with a fork and smashing them was fun! Third we added very little oil in with the mix. Fourth we put butter in the oven and melted it. Fifth My mum carefully cracked open an egg. Sixth we put black liquid vanilla. Seventh we put sugar into the mixture. Eighth we mixed it together and we put choc chips on top. It looked like ooey gooey deliciousness and when we put it in the oven and got it out it tasted even better.

Jerome's Muffin Project

On this week's google meet our teacher gave us a project about making muffins. My Mum got chocolate cake powder when she heard about my muffin project. First, we poured the cake powder into the bowl it smelled nice. Second, we cracked open eggs and put the yolk and white in the bowl. Third, we added vegetable oil and water. I was able to use my math skills to measure the quantity of oil and water. Fourth, my Mum whisked the mixture and let me use the electric whisker. Then my sister wanted to put toppings and I didn't so we each split 6 and 6. My sister used Oreos as her topping. Fifth, we put them in the oven so they could cook and puff up. After this, my sister and I went to watch some TV. Then my Mum said that the muffins were done so when we finished our lunch we could have 1.

Olympic work TWA

Through these weeks we've been doing Olympic work. We've been doing Olympic work through reading and maths. In reading there was a task board that we did work from. There were 3 questions to choose from and I chose 'How are the Ancient, Modern and Present Olympics different?' I went on Kiwi Kids News to get some information. In the research I learned that married woman would get thrown of cliff for even watching in the Ancient times! In maths we did an Olympic slideshow witch had questions to solve. We would solve one question each day as a group and then do it separately. We had to solve it in our own way so we wouldn't get confused. Over all I thought both the activities were great.

Olympic work

In term three we started doing Olympic disruption work. It was set with dates on the side that we had to find the answer to. I searched that one of the disruptions was terrorists. The work took me two days to finish and one of the questions really hard for me to finish. The last question about the Olympics was easy because it was about the 2020 Olympics. In the next week after we started some new Olympic work. We went on an Olympic logo slide that showed all the sports. We had to write the sports under the logos and it was easier said then done. After I was done I had to choose a sport and I chose karate. Things I learned:I learned there's more than 20 sports in the Olympics.

Blog about Matariki

Earlier this week we started Matariki DLO's and we could do it on a Google drawings,Google slides and more. We needed to find facts about Matariki by looking at texts. Here is how we did it in order of how we did it.

 1. We chose a question on the site to base our facts on.
2. After we chose a google sheet to start our work on.
3. Then we went on the reading page and read texts to find facts.
4. We then wrote the page and once you put enough information you put Matariki pictures.
5. Add colours to convince people to read it and get it checked

Here is the link to my DLO.

Procedural text

 Procedural Text

For writing we did procedural writing, this is a text that explains how to do something. We needed to explain a game we knew and I did Minecraft. It started of with a plan then when we finished we put the text on a doc. We got checked and then edited it to get rid of any mistakes.

We learned how to make a proper Procedural Text. I learned another way to explain things to people. It taught me to explain in more  detail. We learned that if you don't explain it detail with it won't go to plan.

To me I think I did good at detailing the text. I think that I wrote my text properly. I'm sure I explained everything about Minecraft. Here is the link to my Procedural writing text.

Pink T-Shirt Day

On Friday last week it was Pink T-Shirt day and we all wore pink. I wore a Pink jacket and when I got to school almost everyone was wearing Pink. First we all had a Singing assembly and Ms McGrath helped us practice the lines. Once we finished the assembly we went out to get a picture. Miss Daly got the drones out and turned them on. We all formed a giant t-shirt in the meantime. Ms Daly used the camera on the drone so she would get a better picture. Some of the people got surprised when they heard the drone start flying. Once she got the photo she sent it to the other teachers. Then we went back to class and and wrote compliments to strangers. It worked by first writing nice comments in our book. After we wrote it on a paper T-shirt and coloured it in. Then we made another T-shirt after at the end of the day the teachers gave them out.

Cameron Pools

In week 1 term 2 we started going to Cameron Pools because we live on a island and are surrounded by water. In my first session I was in the Nan's pool and it was shallow. The pool was heated and I thought it was too easy. On Thursday I got moved to the adult pool because the instructor said so. At first I was scared about the depth but after the instructor helped me. I learned to put my face in the water without blowing bubbles. After the instructor pulled out a pole for me to hold onto and do my front kicking. In the next week I learned to stand in the pool without drowning. Then we got black boards to start the front kicking it was easy! After we learned to do the thing that scared me the most? We did back kicking without a board so the instructor held me and when she let go I did it! In conclusion I now love Cameron pools.

Jerome fortune teller

This morning the deputy principal taught us to make fortune tellers. Fortune tellers are a type of paper origami that  tells your fortune. Then Miss McGrath started explaining where to fold and how to fold it. We did a lot of folding and creasing that my fingers hurt. Finally when we finished the folds Debs helped with the shape. After  Miss McGrath explained what the numbers and colours mean. For my colours I chose green, blue, black and brown Debs helped with the colouring. I started doing dots but Debs told me the right way to colour. Then we wrote the numbers one to eight and it looked like it when't around and around. After we wrote compliments inside the folds like the ones in our fitness diaries. They are Warriors fitness diaries that we've been filling since week 3. I struggled a bit with the writing enough that I got frustrated so I made it a anger fortune teller. Finally I finished it I was so proud when I tried it it was fun.

Anzac Activaties

On Wednesday we did Anzac activities.

First we entered the trenches witch were made out of strings.

Second we did a basic facts test with Ms Jones putting gun sounds.

Third we answered maths questions about the wars and their years.

Forth we ate our fruit and did our exersises lying down.

Fifth we wrote a letter to our family from the trenches and when you were finished you wrote a poem.

Sixth we were split into two groups one was swimming while the other was doing a pictodraw.

Finally before it was home time we got in groups of two and unravelled the strings.
One of each pair was blindfolded.

I thought it was one of the best days of my life.

Lockdown Creations

This lockdown made me feel annoyed and bored. So I had to get through it. My favourite activity was I Spy with Google Earth.I  loved it when my family and me went to my favourite restaurant. For us to put the work on the slideshow we had to make links. I feel very happy that we are back at school.

Here is my I Spy
